Review on: Urban Decay - Primer Potion

I’m a total primer convert after using this stuff! Makes eyeshadow more vibrant and stay put for longer without creasing.
I never saw the point in primer before I used this but it makes your eyeshadows look so much better.

Review on: MAC - Prep + Prime Skin

::: The Product :::
M.A.C. Prep+Prime Skin is a facial primer you use before applying makeup. Primers are supposed to help smooth the skin, and create a base for your makeup. Some claim to reduce the appearance of pores, and some do help mattify your skin as well. Also, primers serve as a barrier between your skin and your facial makeup.

M.A.C. describes Prep+Prime Skin as "An ultra-fluid lotion formulated with special-effect silicones. Calms and soothes the skin, blots away excess oil, and evens out skin redness. Improves the laydown and application of
foundation or powder."

The primer comes in a black airless pump bottle, which measures approximately 4.5" tall and 1.25" wide. The front of the bottle states, in white writing, "M.A.C. Prep+Prime" at the top, and "Skin Base Visage 30ML/1.0 US FL OZ" on the bottom. The back of the bottle contains the product name and a warning in English and French, as well as company information. The primer itself comes out as an iridescent white color, but dries to a clear finish.

M.A.C. also has Prep+Prime Face Protect SPF50, but I've been told it's more of a sunscreen than primer. Needless to say, I haven't tried it and have no intentions on trying it.

::: The Ingredients :::
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11, Sucrose, Isopentyldiol, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Gellidiela Acerosa (Algae) Extract, Morus Bombycis (Mulberry) Root Extract, Hypnea Musciformis (Algae) Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Poria Cocos Sclerotium Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Amorphophallus Konjac Root Powder, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Algae Extract, Caffeine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Magnesium Myristate, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Saccharide Isomerate, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Silica, Polysorbate 20, Alumina, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Polyethylene, Phenyl
Trimethicone, Sialyllactose, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Phenoxyethanol

Prep & Prime Skin may contain:
Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Bismuth Oxychloride

::: My Experience :::
I have tried a few facial primers, as I mentioned earlier. I actually held out on trying M.A.C.'s until earlier this year. I have no idea why it took me so long, but it might be because I was happy with the brand I was previously using. Alas, I finally broke down and decided to try it since it's recommended by a lot of makeup lovers.

I had originally received a sample of Prep+Prime Skin from a friend, and didn't care for it too much. I decided to give it another shot and got another sample from my local M.A.C. counter. Needless to say, I was hooked! I immediately bought some, and haven't looked back since! My skin definitely feels a lot smoother whenever I use M.A.C. Prep+Prime Skin, and I can tell a difference if I don't use it before applying my foundation (which is Urban Decay Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup).

Normally, I wash my face and moisturize my face, then wait about 5 minutes before applying the primer. You have to slowly pump the product out, or else you end up with WAY more than you want. I apply a small dot to my forehead, chin and each cheek, then I kind of "rub" it all in. Quite like you would with a moisturizer. I then wait 5 more minutes before applying my foundation. The wait time between moisturizing and priming is necessary as it gives the products time to sink in, so to speak.

As I just mentioned above, my face feels a lot softer after using M.A.C. Prep+Prime Skin, and my makeup goes on smoother. It doesn't leave an oily/greasy feeling, but instead of a soft powdery feeling.

The only complaint I have is that I wish M.A.C. would put this in a clear bottle so you can see how much you have left. It would really stink to go to use my primer one day only to find out that I don't have any!

::: Purchasing & Pricing Information :::
M.A.C. Prep+Prime Skin is available online, at Freestanding stores, and M.A.C. counters for $23. You might be able to find it on eBay (we all know how much I love that site), but I'm not sure if you'd make a savings as M.A.C. is generally overpriced on eBay. The Face Protect SPF 50 retails for $28.

::: Recommendation :::
I recommend M.A.C. Prep+Prime Skin for anyone who wants a good primer which makes your skin feel softer, as well as to apply your makeup smoother. It's fast drying, so you don't really need to wait before applying makeup, but I do recommend waiting.

Pros: Fast drying; non greasy; Smoothes skin out
Cons: Wish the bottle was clear; No SPF (though there is an SPF50 version)
Review on: Boots - Mattifying Make Up Base
I believe I paid about 7 dollars for it and I got it at Target. I works wonderful under my makeup and dries up and little bit of oil that may be hidden. As soon as you apply it to your face it begins to dry and matte the area that it is on. I dont recommend this for anyone that already has dry skin as I believe this would irriate their skin. This product is definately for someone who has oily-to very oily skin.

Pros: Dries quick,soaks up oilq
Cons: Not for poeple with dry skin or sensitive skin

Review on: Rimmel - Fix and perfect primer
 this is my second favorite primer. i usually use ultima primer but this is alot like it .. i has color too it but if you let it dry / put your foundation on it doesnt show. I always put foundation on .. I neVERR ever go outside without it  but this product made me feel comfortable without it. It does even out my skin ( im a nc 25 in mac foundation) and it hides my huge pores , you can barely see them with this ! i love it !

Pros: smoothes out skin , evens it out and it minimizes pores. its around 5 bucks! and for a small package it last a long time.
Cons: not really a biiig tube. lighter skin tones may not like it because of the color it comes out of the tube.
Review on: Ulta - Ulta Professional foundation primer
i dont know how well this worked on other people but i hated it . the only thing i liked was the bottle itself. i have acne prone skin i break out alot so a primer for me is important.  My skin tends to either be really really dry or really oily. This product made me break out a bit, it was fairly greasy and it didnt dry good. If i had kept the reciept i would've returned it.

Pros: its on sale most of the time for $13.50 or buy one get one free. Nice bottle.
Cons: greasy / oily. takes a while to dry. not a good primer.
Review on: Ultima II - UNDER IT ALL Make-Up Perfector
i love this primer its the best that i have tried and ive bought it over and over again. its the only product ive EVER sticked to . it has color to it but once it dries you cant see it

Pros: spf 25 , affordable. last a while. its creamy . doest dry skin. you can wear it alone. uva /uvb protection from the sun. smoothes out and evens out skin .
Cons: it does last a while but not whole lot. i have to cut the tube once i cant squeeze any out to get whats left in it ( a looottt)
Review on: L'Oreal - DE-CREASE

Pros: Provides great base for e/s or just to wear & look more awake. e/s doesn't crease upto 6 hrs
Cons: Product is little difficult to apply unless the eyelid is moisturised well otherwise it leaves dry patches. Also the bottle of de-crease that I got seemed half emply or is it supposed to be half empty?
Review on: Urban Decay - Primer Potion
Would just like to say, UDPP is gold! I just came back from an outdoor concert and my make up looks like it did when I walked out the door. It was very very humid that day, my face was dripping with sweat from the heat and body heat of others, it POURED ...twice! And I just got home and I could seriously go clubbing right now without touching up my make up if my feet weren't so tired.

Good job Urban Decay, you have won me over with this product!!

Pros: - feels silky after being applied - nude, suits all skin colours - not cakey, for when you apply eyeshadows on top
Cons: - shape of bottle is horrible because when you think it's finished there's a ton of it still left in the hard to reach places for the applicator
Review on: Urban Decay - Primer Potion
This was just ok for me.  Don't like the applicator wand at all, always felt like I should dab it on my hand or something before applying.

It really did help with preventing creasing, was ok to extend staying powder, but did nothing to enhance the colour of the eyeshadow.

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: faces - Perfecting Skin Smoother
I'm torn about this product.  I loved how it wore under liquid foundation, but not so much with minerals.  I was pretty new to minerals at the time, so it could have been my own learning curve.  I will be buying again!!

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: mark - Pro Glimmer Hook Up Powder
To be honest, i don't see how this helped in any way as far as staying power but what i did love is that you can pair any of this 6 to 8 colors to create a new color with any lip gloss. You just layer this powder on first and then put the lipgloss on top and it creates a little more dimension to the gloss. My favorite is Peek with Pro gloss in Swell.

Pros: Creates ability to make a new lip color with existing glosses
Cons: no extra staying power
Review on: Benefit - Ooh La Lift
This is definitely like an instant mini eye-lift!  It doesn't last all day on me, but it really helps get rid of that morning tired look.  Love the wand applicator, helps with not getting too much of the product (which tends to look cakey).

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: Too Faced - Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I bought this after I finished my first tube of UDPP.  I gotta say, this stuff is soooo much better!!  It not only helps shadow last all day long, but it really intensifies the colour!!

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: Philosophy - the present
I normally use Smashbox's primer, but I decided to try this when I ran out mainly because of the price.  It is really excellent!!  Only need to use a little bit and it really helps hide my huge pores and does not make me oily.

Pros: Great price for amount.
Cons: I have to wait longer than the two minutes it says on the instructions in order for it not to cake in the undereye area.
Review on: Urban Decay - Primer Potion
This is such a great eyeshadow primer but the only thing i don't like is the packaging. The way it is packaged doesn't allow for all of the product to be used. It is worth every penny though

Pros: more vibrant eyeshadow colors, no creasing
Cons: packaging
Review on: Urban Decay - Primer Potion
I absolutely love this stuff. My eyeshadow no longer creases and it stays on for hours! A little goes a long way, so definitely worth the price.

The packaging, although cute, is not practical at all. There is tons of product left after you can no longer get any with the wand. I cut mine open and scooped it into a different container. You wouldn't believe the amount that was left!

Pros:
Cons:
Review on: Loreal - DeCrease
I never used eyeshadow primer so I didn't know what I was missing, but this stuff is great. I used it for both powder and creme shadows and noticed it kept it in place all day. It seems to keep creme shadow better though, but still works pretty good on powder. It is a nude beige shade, but since your shadows going over it, it doesn't matter, the packaging isn't the best, but it's worth it.

Pros: Keeps shadow in place longer, was easy to apply.
Cons: difficult to get last bit out.
Review on: Smashbox - Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 Dermaxyl
I have tried the original Photo Finish Primer and this Photo Finish Primer with SPF 15 and Dermaxyl Complex.  It seems a little heavier than the original before it is absorbed but after you can't tell a difference. I love the added protection of SPF 15 as some of my foundations don't contain it.  It does an amazing job of filling in fine lines and wrinkles. I even convinced my dad to try to it (a super macho railroad worker) and it did wonders. Of course he would never leave the house with "makeup" on! :) It makes my liquid foundation look flawless. Some people love the pump dispenser but I feel like you waste the last 1/4 of the bottle because it won't pump out. A great way around this is to buy the travel sizes. I found them at ULTA. For $17.00 you get 0.5 oz, get two which equals out to the 1.0oz normal bottle with the pump. If you do your math, you will realize that you get 1.0oz for $34.00 instead of the $42.00 that is charged for the larger size. Plus you don't waste any as the travel sizes are squeeze bottles. Of course, some executive is gonna read this and change the price...so get it while you can! LOL But honestly it is worth either price for such a great product

Pros: Flawless look
Cons: Pump dispenser
