Be very wary of buying these foundations!!!! I have very sensitive skin and am prone to acne. I was approached by on the the sales ladies at a mall from their kiosk. The woman was so rude and after she took off my own eye makeup she only did one and while in the process said i'll only do only one if you agree to buy it. I was appalled that someone would even say that! (Lucky for her i did like it) However, she was really pushing the foundation on me even after telling her repeatedly I didn't want it that I use what works. If it ain't broke, don't fix it so to speak. After being pressured even more, I finally gave in so she would just leave me alone. Now after using it for about 2 months now, I have the most horrible acne! (which I had been fending off before using it!) It's not just any acne but the kind where it comes from under the skin. I don't do ANYTHING different because I know how sensitive my skin is to these things. This was the only difference. I would definatlely not recommend this product to a friend!
Review on: Physician's Formula - Mineral Foundation Powder
I bought this on sale since I wanted some kind of mineral powder for quick touch ups and wanted something quick from the drugstore. The first thing I have to say is the brush that comes with it is cute but horrible for applying foundation for a touch up. It swept off any blush I had on and I don't think it applied it very well in general. I like the idea behind the mirror on one end and the powder on the other but practically, the mirror gets all dusted up from the brush anyway. I never tried using the brush for a full foundation application so I am not sure how that works. My main complaint with this is that it stinks. I have had this problem with other pressed mineral makeup compacts. It must be something in the binder ingredients because it is a horrible smell. Like chalk and mold mixed together and I've never smelled it on anything other than pressed mineral foundation. For touch ups I've started using a retractable kabuki style brush and that makes it much better for applying evenly and not swiping off anything you already have on. But again, stink! You do get quite a bit for your money so I guess in that sense it's good and it kinda serves a purpose for now but I won't be repurchasing.
Pros:Portable, pressed, pretty basic ingredients Cons:Stinky! Color shades are generic.
i couldnt wait 2 try this foundation when it came out i hav combination skin and i suffer with acne i hav scaring all around my chin and mouth due 2 years and years of boils zits n blackheads so when this came out i was lookin 4ward 2 tryin it, as im on a tight budget i dont normaly spend a lot on makeup at all even though i wish i could i thought i may aswel jump in and buy it but i was sooo disapointed:(it made my skin itch i came out in huge reds lumps i didnt like the way it felt the coverage wasnt thick enough aswel, i did however use a concealer brush damp and go over my scaring n spots n it worked brilliantly as a cocealer no red lumps or itching so im still on the look out 4 the right foundation.:-)
Review on: Revlon - Revlon Colorstay Mineral Foundation
I'm on a maybe with this product. I tried it for the first time and it stayed on all day. I like the fact that it made my skin look natural and not cakey. It covers only slight markings. So if you've got dark spots that you're looking to cover then I wouldn't recommend this. It doesn't have an odor and the colors are great! I found my shade with just one match.
The only things I don't like about it are: when I first apply it, it doesn't seem to "stick" on. Sort of like apply a loose powder. Didn't really seem to have anything on. But I added a little bit more and I started to see a difference. The other issue I have is the packaging. I cannot stand it! They need to come up with a better idea because I hate having to swivel the little handle in order for the brush to go up or down. It needs to be up in order to get the product to come out and down in order to get a good use out of the brush.
So like I mentioned in the beginning, it's a good product that looks natural and lasts but should be used to cover only slight discoloration of the skin.
Pros:Feels and looks natural, lasts all day and has a great selection of shades. Cons:Too expensive for what little that it does and its packaging sucks!

Review on: Merle Norman - Mineral Foundation in L60
It was by accident that I discovered Merle Norman had mineral makeup foundation and what a discovery! It contains no bismuth oxychloride! I am fair with golden undertones and this color worked much better for me than the lighter shade (more for pink undertones). I'm not sure how many shades there are. The coverage is light-medium and has a luminous finish. There is no finishing powder so if you have oily skin and want a matte finish you'd most likely want a finishing powder or blotter papers on hand. For the price you get a lot. .5oz. I've been using mine for about 6 months and I'm not even half way through the container.
Pros:You get a lot for your money Cons:Can leave you shiney
I really don't think you can go wrong with Lauress. This foundation is simple, simple, simple. It has a mostly matte finish, the coverage is easily buildable. I have combination skin and can wear this without a finishing powder (cutting out a step in the morning) and it stays all day, never cakey or dry. If worn with a finishing powder it's a more matte look with excellant staying powder.
Pros:soft texture, excellant service and packaging, soothing for skin Cons:It's a little more than other brands, but so worth it.
I love this foundation! Great all-day lasting coverage. No oilyness or
wearing off. The foundation colors are very skin-tone like i.e., no
offensive orangey tones. I like that the owner uses premium finely
milled minerals. Coverage is buildable and a tiny amount goes a long
way. Doesn't cause itchness, bumps, pimples, etc. I have been using
this formula for over 4 months and it's my HG out of any other brands that I've tried!
The other thing I
love about Lauress is their customer service. Very prompt and shipping
is fast. I usually get my order within a week (1st class shipping) and
Lauren never fails to throw in a bunch of samples of various products
for free.
Pros:Great customer service.
Can contact the owner for a shade suggestion.
Lots of shades to choose from.
Fast shipping (even outside the USA).
Takes Paypal (if you choose).
Free samples are thrown in.
Cons:You could consider the price a con. However, this foundation minerals is so PREMIUM that a tiny bit goes a long way. Also, no need to reapply (a full face) throughout the day.
Gorgeous luminous makeup that I wouldn't be without. Great samples that she will send all over the world for $3.00 for. 4 jars. Easy to use in the little pots and the full size is huge. Barekiss foundation is so silky you won't believe it. I know I am raving but I really love this makeup! Australian so there is an au after the dot com.
Pros:Great to try in sample size and get right shade. Cons:None
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff! I use it 50/50 with Olive Golden medium in intensive to achieve my perfect color. This color gives me the glow that not even Prescriptives could with their Virtual Skin!! I do have oily skin so I have to use a finishing powder and still blot throughout the day but never have I had a foundation that lasted throughout the day even through the sweat of a workout!!
I will never use liquid foundation again (I gave them away immediately). I'm mexican but this has the perfect yellow for me and the golden medium combined gave me the perfect depth for this color. It looks warm on my face and not like a liquid foundation where you can see the powder! I will definitley purchase this stuff again and again!
Pros:Cheap, easy, last practically all day Cons:Is only for those with okay complexion, not full coverage
This is my regular foundation. I bought it after I found out that I just wasn't getting along with liquid or creme foundations so I decided to give this a go and i love it! I'm very pale so it's always been really annoying trying to find a foundation colour to match my skin tone but this just adapts perfectly! It gives perfect coverage and is so quick and easy to put on!
I order mine either online or through the catalogue because they don't sell it in shops. The delivery is very quick and the price is great compared to other foundations of the same quality. It comes in a compact with a mirror and a compartment with a sponge in it. When you run out you buy the refil which is cheaper than the whole product with the packaging and you take out the old tin base that held the powder in your compact and put the new one in the space and it's secured by sticky dots which are there.
Pros:Colour, staying power, coverage, delivery. Cons:The old powder base can be a bit tricky to get out of the compact.
Review on: Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Mineral Foundation
Price: $3.99 - $4.99
Product:2/5
Recommendation: NO
I purchased this foundation
on a whim at an Albertson’s grocery store for about $3.99, I was
curious as to how Wet N Wild, a brand that was looked down upon for
many years would fair in the mineral makeup world. To be honest, I
really wasn’t expecting much from the foundation, because of the long
ingredient list which is always a bad sign for MMU. This foundation
also contains Bismuth Dioxide, which is a well known skin irritant.
Given my already low expectations of the foundation, I was not
disappointed.
The foundation is very
sheer, even when applying it wet it still doesn’t cover anything. The
good thing is that you can layer the foundation to take it from sheer
to light coverage. Wet N Wild only has a few shades available which is
a strike against it, when it comes to darker skin tones. The packaging
that the foundation comes in isn’t the best either, the square top is
slightly awkward when it comes to opening and closing the jar, and I
tend to drop it on more than one occasion. The sifter that comes in the
jar isn’t very secure either and when it came off when i accidentally
knocked the jar over, spilling a lot of foundation. I have other sifter
jars from other companies, both traditional and mineral makeup
companies and when those were knocked over, the sifter did not come off
the jar.
All in all, I would only
recommend this foundation to someone who has never tried mineral makeup
before and they wanted to get something cheap to play around with, to
see if they would like using that type of makeup. But if you are
experienced with mineral makeup, I suggest you by pass this and order
from a real mmu company.
Pros:Cheap, available everywhere Cons:Read the review for everything.
This is my HG foundation. Its absolutly perfect. Its very easy to apply and find a color match. It has crystal pearls and SPF 20 so it also gives your skin a healthy glow. The coverage is not heavy, but with a touch of concealer, I look airbrushed. It feels amazing on the skin, just silky and like nothing is there. It lasts all day and the color stays true. Once you buy it, you can buy refills after which are cheaper. I will use this for years to come and I advise anyone and everyone to try it!
Pros:Gives flawless look, radiance, smooth, good colors, great packaging, faintly smells nice Cons:Expensive, you need a good powder brush to apply it for the flawless look
Review on: Signature Mineral Makeup - foundation 6.0
This foundation is truly the best I've ever tried! Way better than regular liquid or pressed powder foundation!! Very smooth texture and easy to blend/apply...you don't have to be a pro to use this stuff! I have a light- medium warm complexion that tends to be oily in the t-zone...well, this foundation covers perfectly without looking fake or sinking into pores, the color match is very close to my natural skin tone, and it's sweat/water resistant! If you are a Latina or Mediterranean girl like me, you should definitely give it a try! Better quality and better value that BE!!
Pros:great quality, realistic colors (16), long lasting, natural spf, affordable, non-irritating (no bismuth, starch, parabens), fab customer service! Cons:maybe a little messy :-)
This is my HG powder foundation. I have NC15 skin and E10 matches me perfectly. It gives a sheer to medium buildable coverage and looks good applied dry or wet with a kabuki and it's nice as a finishing powder using a skunk brush to apply. It doesn't look chalky or powdery and gives me a natural look and it's really easy to blend and buff in. It keeps me matte most of the day and lasts all day, but I do use a primer to help with that. The sponge it comes with is okay but I prefer using the 182 to buff it in. It doesn't oxidize either.
I bought the pressed version in natural light and it matched mt NC15 skin pretty well and it was cheap. Those are the only 2 good things about this. The brush it comes with sheds a lot and is way too small to use for the entire face. Besides that, it isn't buildable and gets chalky and powdery looking after a second light layer. I tried applying this wet and dry, using a kabuki and a skunk brush and I can't make this look good even with a good moisturizer and a primer too.
Review on: Urban Decay - Surreal Skin Mineral Makeup
Excellent coverage!! Messy application and a little confusing the first time you use it. Overall this product works well on my very sensitive/ oily skin. Also conceals redness very well.
Pros:coverage, non irritating for very sensitive skin Cons:messy application
